The feasibility of the sliding pressure startup system for high temperature supercritical pressure light water cooled reactors (SCLWR-H) is studied by thermal-hydraulic analysis. The startup system and procedures are investigated and found feasible from thermal analysis. The weight and dimensions of required components for startup are also assessed.
The present study provides a qualitative basis for assessment of proliferation resistant properties for mixtures of heavy metals essential in material flows of near term fuel cycle options.
