The north-central region of Vietnam is known for its high-temperature phenomena. One of the possible causations of high-temperature phenomena in this region is the foehn (also known as Laotian wind) blowing down from the Truong Son Mountains. In this study, the high-temperature phenomena that occurred in central Vietnam from June 1 to 5, 2017 were discussed to investigate the contribution of the fern to the high-temperature occurrence. The results show that the foehn raises the temperature around Vinh in north-central Vietnam by about 2-4°C. It was also found that the foehn warming was caused by a dynamical mechanism.

We suggests the methods of teaching Chinese regional studies through the subject of geography and advanced geography under the new high school curriculum. According to our survey carried out to senior high school students, they tend to believe that China is more advanced in economy than Japan. However, they showed less understanding in the reason why China was able to advance in economy. Instead of national levels, we focused on the level of cities and rural areas and its labor movement. Students researched the labor movement of each region. This research introduces the way to motive students in their research.

The 2011 Mega tsunami has drastically damaged the coastal pine forest in the Sendai Plain. The forest regeneration on the embankment has been planned to prevent the next Tsunami. By calculating NDVI, NDVIre and EVI using two multispectral images with different resolutions, a vegetation index suitable for monitoring growth of Japanese black pine was evaluated in a wide range area and/or one by one planted tree. Data from satellite images can provide EVI as a suitable index, while NDVIre was better than others in the case of multispectral camera images. We can confirm the suitability from a field survey data.

In recent years, aerial photographs taken before the war have been added to the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan's electronic map. At present, it is possible to browse prewar aerial photographs in various places, and it is expected that research and education will progress in the future by comparative studies using aerial photographs regarding the spatial transition between prewar and postwar. The author is studying "Aerial Photographs of Osaka City(1928, 1942)". In this presentation, we will mention the characteristics of aerial photographs of Osaka in electronic maps and their future utilization.

Due to colonial rule, Japan and Korea had similar transportation systems where railways took charge not only of short-distance transpotation but also of medium- and long-distance transportation. When motorization progressed after World War II, railways in South Korea was specialized in medium- and long-distance transportation while railways in Japan continued to take charge of short-distance transportation. The advantages and disadvantages of different transportation systems can be presented by comparing the transportation systems of both countries and their formation processes.

As the carbon dioxide concentration in the cave increases, there are concerns about human health hazards. For this reason, the guidelines recommend atmospheric observation in caves. Akiyoshi-do Cave is one of the most visited caves globally and has been designated for protection. However, few studies have investigated the atmospheric condition and the physical and psychological effects of the air quality on tourists. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to clarify the actual conditions of the microclimate in Akiyoshi-do Cave and to understand the effects on the physical and psychological conditions of tourists.

Various drawing papers was used for the Inoh’s maps. I observed and measured those drawing papers of Inoh’s maps including shitazu, araezu, and I classified those papers to seven kinds. One is to-shi made of bamboo from China. The others are all made of Kozo (paper malberry) in Japan. I think that these paper are each called mino-shi,oh-banshi,tengujo,nishinouchi-shi,sugihara-shi and han-shi at the same time. I think that the drawing paper was chosen by function and sociality. So the quality of drawing paper and the stage or purpose of cartography are closely related.
