A method by which the pressure in the innominate artery and the base of the right subclavia can be changed independently of the systemic circulation, is described in the experimentation with the rabbit and the dog. In proportion to the rise of pressure in the blind sack in these parts a fall of blood pressure and slowing of the heart will be observed. The afferent path of this reflexes runs through the right aortic nerve. Furthermore, there is another afferent pathway in the innominate artery of the dog, which enters the right vagus where the recurrent emerges. This method of stimulating aortic nerve is more physiological than the electrical stimulation and is not only important in the functional study of the aortic nerve, but also contributes to the study of the aortic body which is located between the right subclavia and the common carotid.

For the determination of the best condition for the practical application of a plasma substitute, alginic acid, introduced by Professor Tomoda, the Author made a series of experiments on the water content, viscosity and the colloid osmotic pressure of the serum by injecting this acid of various concentrations intravenously into the rabbit made anemic by artificial hemorrhage, and arrived at the following conclusions : The theoretical concentrations based on the colloid chemistry lie between 1 and 1,5%. In the practical application however, some side effects appear by these concentrations. The concentration of 0.3% has a considerable capacity for holding water in the serum, while the dilution over 0.6% calls forth some ill effects in the biological properties of the individual. The concentration of 0.3% and the relative viscosity of 2 would therefore be the bast condition in the practical application.

With the mixture of nicotine and oxen sera allergic myocarditis was found not only electrocardiographically, but also histologically in the rabbits' hearts. As control experiments show, any kinds of inflammations, of course any other pathologic changes, were never called into being in the rabbits' hearts which were treated with nicotine alone. So we must attach importance to the fact that only the mixture of nicotine and oxen sera produces myocarditis just as the mixture of digitalis and oxen sera did in Noda's reports. The matter, that nicotine a kind of substances which have aphinity to the heart muscle such as digitalis, precipitates the allergic inflammatory changes especially in the myocardium and these changes are selectively broken out as were seen in my previous reports, corraborates Prof. Maekawa's theory about the organ specifity of allergic changes and throws a fresh light on the study of allergy.

We sensitized the rabbits with a mixture of human myocardial phosphatide and fresh oxen sera in the same course of experiment to Noda's and confirmed the quite similar phenomenon (intense myocarditis) histologically. Difference between two cases is that, in the former case, monocytes were saturated mostly and plasma cells were saturated in the later. In other points, there was no essential difference between them, clinically and pathologically. Namely, myocardial phophatide has not any genes particularity.

Observations made of the influence upon the blood volume of various cardio-tonics injected during the feverish course in typhoid and paratyphoid cases have proved that : (1). Total blood volume generally decreases 40-60 minutes after intravenous injection of 5.0cc of Digitamin, or, 30-40 minutes after intravenous injection of 0.13-0.075mg of Uabanin (g-Strophantin), and, the effectiveness by the latter is found especially much distinct. (2). Tatal blood volume is found increased as a rule 20-30 minutes after subcutaneous injection of 4.0cc of Spiramin, which does, however, cause it decreased on the contrary when the total blood volume has unusually been on the actual increase beforehands.

On 5 kinds of disease, I investigated the edema which occured by the application of -200mm Hg negative pressure on the blood capillaries. 1) The edema comes in sight 1〜2 minutes after the beginning of application of negative pressure, and increases its intensity in different speed on each disease. 2) Stopping aspiration, the edema decreases in different speed on each disease, and disappears in 10〜15 minutes. 3) Owing to my opinion, one of the reasons for the long stay of edema in the case of discompensated heart disease is due to the hindrance of lymphatic return current that caused by the lowering of heart function which can be regarded as a suction pump.

The study was made to determine the reaction in the capillaries of the nailbeds of 9 essential hypertensive patients, by application of warm bath or cold bath (50℃ or 5℃) test for 2 minutes to the hand, comparing with 15 healthy people. The following results were obtained : By application of warm bath, the reaction in the capillaries showed hyperemia, in all healthy people and 3 hypertensive patients. On the other hand, in 6 out of 9 hypertensive patients, there was a paradoxic reaction, in which the capillaries contracted and the blood circulation in the capillaries became slower at the first stage after a hand was dipped in warm water, and soon after, the reaction transformed in reactive hyperemia. By application of cold bath, at the first stage after immersion, the capillaries contracted and the blood circulation in the capillaries became slower and soon after immersion the reactive hyparemia occured, in essential hypertensive patients as well as in healthy people. But the grade of the contraction is stronger and the time under influence of cold bath on the capillaries is longer, in majority of essential hypertensive patients than healthy people.
