Technical knowledge have been stored as text data (such as written documents and technical books, etc.). It is, however, difficult to understand hidden linkages among the knowledge inside the text data. There are two major causes that obstruct the understanding of contextual linkages. The first cause is the cognitive issue of document structure and the second is the cognitive issue of technical importance of keywords. The project is the place where various technical knowledge is related to mutually. It is, therefore, necessary to solve the above mentioned two causes to prevent human cognitive and communication errors in the project. In this paper, the authors propose a knowledge representation method that create knowledge network inside the document. An illustrative example is also presented to understand this method easier.

Most of professional qualifications are conducted by knowledge test to those practitioners who have experiences and want accreditations in vocational capability. Knowledge is evidently a principal component to form capability. IPMA- the European project management association holds the view that competence of the project manager is constituted of knowledge, experience and attitude. Many admits that different from the simple knowledge test, capability test is complex, and yet difficult to assess in short time. To overcome the difficulty, challenge is still undergone by international team led by Lynn Crawford under the title of global alliance for project management standards. (GAPPS). Within a several years to come, the action will be initiated to broaden the capability test. Under this trend, the author had recommended the original system of capability assessment in action, which is rare, but advanced framework than any others. This paper addresses the introduction and backed up theories behind the system.

In new drug research and development, unexpected new data and issues are often obtained and a project team need to be flexible to deal with those, however, still the spirit of "front-end planning" is important and to prospectively identify target product profile (TPP) of a candidate compound is extremely valuable. Minimum project profile (MPP), which is essential to give a project valuable, makes a team easily evaluate a go/no go of a project based on new data and information. In this session, we will discuss three sets of target product profiles and their implication to effective management of drug development and project risk assessment, as well as decision making mechanism including project go/no-go.

In the field of project management or technology management, nothing is described on the economic evaluation of project. As a rare case, even if real options are explained in addition to traditional economic evaluation index such as net present value, it is not a detailed explanation, such as easily and immediately applied. The medicine development project needs appropriate economic evaluation index, since the project has to have a long period of time and to have low rates of success under restrictive legal controls. There is no detailed presentation on the application of real options, although they are generally said to be appropriate for the need. Then, binominal real options are applied to evaluate a typical medicine development project.

The knowledge of Project Management (PM) has changed in accordance with the type of finance. This change seems to be clear in the finances of overseas projects. Currently in Japan, the knowledge of PM required for financial aspects has expanded from the base of QCD (Quality, Cost and Delivery) to the base of FS (Feasibility Studies) and the base of Project Finance. Accordingly the target of PM has reached to analyze the future value of projects and pursue their financial independences with risk management. It means that PM contributes to share common value and develop business innovation with customers. However, this level of the knowledge of PM is difficult for Project Managers to master them. The extensive and thorough educational program for PM, as shown as an example herein, is required.
