This report based on a survey seeks to understand each party's skill, qualifications, and experience, as well as their awareness of the presence or lack of such attributes in the other party. I analyze the effects of the information obtained in the survey on the results and process of system development. The results of the analysis show that, while the experience and skill of the client is consistently insufficient, the contractors experience and skill are higher than in the past. The widening of this gap affects system development by impeding communication during the development process. It is therefore important to increase client-side skill and experience to ensure the smooth progression and obtain the full benefits of system development.

I will report the effect that work hours have on job satisfaction and subjective happiness based on a survey conducted among 10,000 respondents in the Tokyo Metropolitan area. The analysis results are as follows. The effect of job satisfaction on subjective happiness is relatively small while the satisfaction with the residence, satisfaction with family relations, etc. have large effects. The effect of work hours on job satisfaction is relatively small while the sense of security toward the work environment and the sense of self-growth have large effects. It is strongly suggested that the reforms on the way of work at corporations need to include initiatives such as increasing the understanding of the human relationship at workplace and the jobs themselves.

Airport terminal decision makers in recent years need to deal with unexpected and sudden congestion situations. The variety of congestion situations are caused by interactions between subsystems and heterogeneity of passengers. A simulation approach enables us to describe the interactions between facilities and passenger behavior in detail, so it suits to find various types of possible congestion situations observed in a real airport terminal. The simulation approach, however, cannot directly lead exact prediction that can be useful in practical management and operation for difficulties of modeling a complex airport terminal system and acquiring complete input data. In this presentation, we report Fukuoka airport project in which we built passenger flow simulation to manage airport terminal congestion.

This presentation introduces an approach of patent document analysis and an example applying the approach. The approach is constructed of text mining and two AI technology: PLSA and Bayesian Network. This study analyzes about 30,000 patent document data related to wind and air. Applying PLSA can reduce patent documents to dozens of topics, which is useful to understand the overviews simply. Data aggregation and visualization based on the topics enables to understand technical trends and analyze competitor's technical position leading to the strategy of alliance and competition. Modeling the relationships between usage and technology by Bayesian Network gives awareness of new usage of technology owned by companies.

Developing a highly accurate prediction model for decision making is an important issue for companies.
However, as objective variables are set according to real business requirements, their structure often becomes complicated.
As one method of improving accuracy in such cases, there is a framework of ensemble learning that uses multiple models.
In particular, the method of using the prediction value of the model of the first stage as input of the next model is called stacking.
In this research, we propose a new stacking model which has a simple structure first stage model and a complicated structure next stage model, and we introduce examples of modeling using actual data of the automobile industry.

Early detection and faster response to cyber security incidents are essential to limiting damages. In this article, we introduce a brief description of cyber-attack methods and how to respond as quickly as possible to incidents. For each company, taking all security measures by itself should be avoided, because investigation into non-core business increases. Instead, it is better to outsource some measures to providers. We introduce our cyber security service “NSSEINT" as an example of outsourcing services.

In Japan, however, although the requirements of users are researched, only the shallow problems dependent on the current system are solved. Therefore, many of the information systems have not been designed including the real activities of the users who are the main players in the system. It is thought that many social problems involving an information system have been caused by deviance of users induced under this situation. This report discusses the design method which was suitable for cultural environment based on case analysis of some social problems in Japan.

"Data portability" would empower individuals to collect, gather, and utilize their own financial data for their own ends. To examine smart society, this paper surveys electronic payment services in emerging countries. In the surveyed countries, mobile payments using short message service have been increasingly popularized during the 2000s due to fewer people having a bank account and problems with the accessibility to bank branches and ATMs, despite high demand for remittance. According to the World Bank Group et al. (2016), person-to-person and government-to-person transfers are prevalent in the emerging countries. Today, a new method, account-to-account transfer is also developing.

In this study, we observe how the overfitting problems of the stock price forecast model is mitigated by adopting the variance of a parameter with which the evaluation score is the best that was generated from the repetition of generation changes in the real-value GA. In any method of machine learning used in the research (deep learning, gradient boosting, SVM), the model accuracy was improved when variable selection by the variance of a parameter was added.

The amount of broadband traffic such as high-quality video is on the rise, and according to the survey by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in May 2017, it increased more than 30% over the previous year. However, since the flat rate system is the mainstream for user charges, an increase in traffic does not lead to an increase in revenue. Previously, user expansion has been investing in capital investment, but as the market approaches saturation, maintaining investment is getting harder. Consequently, network congestion is a concern, and the effective speed at the time of congestion is drawing attention. Although since broadband is a complex system, it is difficult to define the effective speed and it is even more difficult to measure it.

We searched for articles of IoT application cases published in the Nikkei Shimbun from January 2015 to June 2017 and obtained 122 valid cases in six major industries. We classified the cases into either aggressive or defensive ones. The result showed that there were differences in the number of cases and in the ratio of the number of aggressive cases by industries. We conducted a co-occurrence network analysis and found that there were many cases aimed at improving production efficiency in the Monozukuri industry, whereas in the Kotozukuri industry, there were many cases aimed at providing services to companies using IoT.

The value of knowledge sharing in a supply chain (SC) is widely accepted in its conceptual sense; however, the lack of concrete evidence has been pointed out. To clarify what and how knowledge is shared in SCs, we organized several SC game workshops by using a self-developed gaming platform. Many participants, including SC management experts, participated in the workshops. Through these workshops, we gained insights into the SC strategic patterns and characteristic trends in SC performance. We constructed some distinctive models of SC strategies using system dynamics based on these insights and analyzed the performance of SCs using the collected gaming data.

In this research, we classify information that consumers use when they purchase goods into enterprise information and consumer-generated information and verify their influence on purchasing behavior. We aim to construct a purchasing behavior model in which the difference between the two types of information is considered, so that we can estimate their influence on purchasing behavior. Based on the model, we examine whether companies should focus on corporate information or consumer-generated information. We employ SOARS to construct a luxury goods purchase model and a daily necessities replacement model. We set five levels of evaluation for consumer-generated information and verify the influence of each type of information based on the number of purchases.

For last a few decades, business performance of department stores had been worse as compared with shopping malls or convenience stores, while there is not a little difference of business performance among each company in department store industry. In this article, we develop a dynamic model which can explain the impacts of department store company's management policies such as (1) outsourcing the purchasing and selling operation (i.e. tenant), (2) targeting the specific customer segment and pricing; on business performance. We develop a system dynamics model which consists of department store model and market model. Moreover, we validate the developed model by comparing the simulation results with trends of actual department stores' business performance.
