    How will the printer cope with the problems of digital imaging and the new technologies of digital printing and make them work for him to his advantage? The new technologies need market research to determine where they are needed, who are using them and how, and whether they fit the printer's operation, equipment and personnel skills. They need close liaison between printers, customers, and manufacturers. They need training of operators to understand the technologies and learn how to use them most effectively, productively and profitably. And printers should consider teaching their customers that are using the technologies how to use them properly so that the products that are submitted to the printer as copy are in condition to enter the system, and do not strangle the system by having to be made over. Partnering is the new paradigm that will result in successful manufacturers, profitable printers and happy customers.

    We studied, by only UV exposure, resulting in lower interlayer adhesive strength between coated double layers, with an example of the new reciever film for low dot gain type's surprint color proof reported before. In various systems added agents, which generate gas by UV exposure, into the thin upper layer of the reciever film. We had facts that 1, 2-naphthoquinone diazide-4-sulfonic acid arylester compounds (4-NQDS ester) had specific effect, on the other hand, 1, 2-naphthoquinone diazide-5-sulfonic acid arylester compounds (5-NQDS ester) with the same molecular weight had not effect, for resulting in lower interlayer adhesive strength between coated double layers by only UV exposure. As a result of analysis for the difference of the effect in the case used a couple of compounds, we guessed that the factor of hydrolysis products of sulfonic acid ester on the back of photodecomposition of 4-NQDS ester acted more efficiently than the factor of N2 gas amount produced on the surface between coated double layers for resulting in lower interlayer adhesive strength. In addition, we found that the sample added 4-NQDS arylester with fluoroalkyl radical (C8) resulted in lower interlayer adhesive strength more efficiently even after subjected to the enviroment of 45°C, 75%RH, 3 days. This is the big benefit for practical systems.

    The progress of computerization for prepress processing has brought specially designed computer system called CEPS. With this CEPS, prepress process has greatly changed by replacing mostly-manually-operated process with a computerized-digital-process. By the recent progress of computer technology, the environment around CEPS has changed a lot and CEPS itself has been improved. In this report, the basic structure of CEPS and the editing function are described.
