1)
Pseudomonas aeruginosa extract was allowed to act on urocanic acid in the presence of EDTA. The reaction mixture was chromatographed on Dowex 1 column; and hydantoin acrylic acid, α-ketoglutaric acid amide, and an unidentified compound with the Scheme II. 3, but in the anaerobic system this was not demonstrated. Both hydantoin acrylic acid and α-ketoglutaric acid amide give the same color reaction. 3) The possible pathway of urocanic acid is discussed, and the formation of β-hydroxyglutamic acid is expected.
