The specific relationships among
Papilio paris, P.
bianor, P. maackii and
P. polytes are examined based on chromosome pairing at first meiosis of F
1 hybrids. At the 1st meiosis of the F
1 from
P. bianor×P. paris, 60 bivalent chromosomes were observed. Chromosomally they may be tetraploid. In view of genie homology, the systematic relationships between
P. bianor, P. polyctor, P.
maackii, P. paris, and
P. polytes are discussed.

The occurrence of male and female specimens of the Funa with the triploid-range complement of chromosomes is described. They showed an inter-chromosomal variation from 153 to 165, while diploid males and females have invariably 100 chromosomes. The production of triploid specimens is discussed.

Banded karyotypes were analyzed in P-41 subline of a mouse myeloma MSPC-1 and its
in vitro line. Both lines showed consistently a 41, X, -Y, +9, +13, t(12; 15) karyotype. This karyotype was fairly stable in both lines for a period of 4 months, although prolonged
in vitro passages led to changes of the karyotype and tumorigenicity. Two markers resulting from the translocation (12; 15) were considered to be specific for mouse myeolomas, in conformity with the findings by Shepard
et al. (1974a, b).

Somatic chromosomes of the guinea fowl (
N. meleagris) and the vulturine guinea fowl (
A. vulturinum), and of their F
1 hybrids are described. The chromosomes of the parent species are generally similar both morphologically and numerically. The somatic chromosome complement of hybrids is hardly distinguishable morphologically from that of the present forms, but the hybrids between them are infertile. Further karyological and biological studies are in progress.
