Single chip solid-state color imagers have been successfully fabricated using newly developed technology to coat the color filter array directly onto a semiconducter wafer. Photosensitive polymers are employed as the color filter construction materials, in orderto simplify the color filter fabrication process. This color filter unit consists of yellow, cyan, green and white segments. An overlapping portion of the cyan and yellow filters is introduced to get the green filter.
The color filter array spectral transmission characteristics have been measured by newly developed reflection microspectroscopy. It has been found that there is a slight difference between the spectral transmission characteristics for the color filter array and the spectral response characteristics for the solid-state color imager. This is caused by lens effect due to the surface unevenness in the color filter array.

The silhouette of a Chinese character plays a key role in visual perception of the character. Although this has empirically been well-known, no quantitative discussionhas been carried out so far on this specific characteristic of Chinese characters. This paper describes quantitative considerations on the silhouettes of Chinese characters in relation to visual perception of Chinese characters.
The basic notion is that a Chinese character, presented by a picture function, can broken down into silhouette and interior functions. Simulation of the blur effect in visual perception of characters has been carried out by spatial lowpass filtering on theFourier frequency domain.
The result of interest is that the silhouette is extremely less affected by blur than the interior. This has also been proved from an experiment regarding character legibility involving 53 subjects.
