This paper describes the transistorization of a SITs*-equpped 100kW medium-wave radio transmitter.
This new transmitter was designed with regard to countermeasures against power refrected to the transmitter with the antenna base grounded, power variations in load change, breakdown of SITs in instantaneous power interruption, etc, to obtain 100kW output power with high stability.
The transmitter is composed of three 50kW transmitters : two in parallel and one stand-by. Each transmitter consists of six 10kW transmitters composed of two 5kW power amplifiers and one 10kW modulator.
The transmitter displayed an overall efficiency of 65% or more, low distortion of 0.5% or less, and a signal-to-noise ratio of 76dB.
