A book binding process, whose diverse specifications leading unprofitability in plant and equipment investment, has left large rooms for labor intensive elements.
Developing an efficient manufacturing method would be a requisite aspect for prospective book binding, as cost reduction is inevitable in small lot, various size of signature related to today's capricious consumer demands, and the boom.
In this report, I would like to discuss technical suggestions under current condition of book binding focusing on the following:
    1. process for increase in productivity 2. process for factory automation
    3. process for quality control.

The growth of convntional business forms can't be expected because of the diffusion of computers and networks. But on the other hand, new applications of business forms are expanding in distribution industry and sales promotions. To meet these new needs, paper processing thechnology, glue or the like coating technology and variable data printing technology are required with high-quality printing technology.

We studied the effect of relative humidity on mechanical properties including fatigue strength of paper and also the effect of fatigue damage by tensile cyclic loads on mechanical properties for art paper (heavy weight coated paper) as a substitute to examine runnability of paper money on vending machines. Major conculusions are summarized as follows: 1. The static strength decreased with the increase in relative humidity and drastically decreased in the higher relative humidity region and the elastic modulus decreased with the increase in relative humidity. These decreases with the increase in relative humidity resulted from the single fiber strength and the inter-fiber strength. 2. The fatigue strength decreased with the increase in relative humidity and drastically decreased in the higher relative humidity region. 3. The fracture stress decreased with the increase in fatigue damage by tensile cyclic loads, because of the increase in thickness of paper. The elastic modulus decreased with the increase in the fatigue damage up to 50% fatigue damage. And, it was constant above 50% fatigue damage.

The electric power converter controls a voltage and a frequency is necessary to the control of an induction motor. We can get easily the electric power converter for the advancing power electric devices and technology. This electric power converter is an inverter. Recently, the drive of a printing machine is replacing a dc drive with an inverter. This introduction describes the principle of an inverter.
