ジャーナル フリーThe expectations for Electronic Paper can be summarized as readability, compactness, multi-functionality, and resource conservation. Paper-like readability should be accepted as the most important target of Electronic Paper, when we consider that no existing electronic display is as comfortable, to read, as paper. A concept of readable Electronic Paper is proposed, and its expected properties, applications, and various candidate technologies are reviewed. Several experiments to clarify how to realize ideal readability on electronic medium are also introduced. As a conclusion, I suggest that free handling of medium and total view for each page without scrolling are essential factors for getting paper-like readability.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (703K) -

ジャーナル フリーFirst, we provide an overview of the Electrophoretic Electronic Paper Technology. Then we focus on recent trends in E Ink through technical development and commercialization activities. The initial product launched in Japan in 2004 was for Electronic Publishing applications, but since then, large-format public signage, watch⁄clock applications and the first million-seller product, a cellphone for emerging markets have appeared. Electronic Publishing applications are spreading to Chinese, European and U.S. markets. ジャーナル フリーWe have been developing a new type paper-like display which is used electronic powder. Electronic powder is original material we have developed and it has very unique characteristics such as high fluidity like liquid, stable charge ability and many colors. These characteristics succeeded to move powders in the air and show not only white & black images but also color ones. In addition our display doesn't require TFT arrays. This suggests it is fairly easy to develop flexible type display even if a substrate durability for temperature is low. We propose a practical and flexible display which uses PET as a substrate and no TFT arrays. ジャーナル フリーFlexible displays based on organic light-emitting diode (OLED) on a plastic film are attracting much attention because of several advantages which are to be very thin, lightweight and flexible or rollable as well as self-emissive. In this article, basic structure and materials for the flexible displays are described. A flexible passive-matrix OLED displays (128 (RGB) ×72 pixels) fabricated by solution processes such as spin-coating and ink-jet printing on a plastic film are demonstrated. Then, for active driving of the OLED displays by organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs), driving voltage of the OTFT is lowered by employing the tantalum oxide gate insulator. Finally, a flexible active-matrix OLED panel (64×64 pixels) is successfully demonstrated by combining the high efficient OLED with the low-voltage driving OTFTs.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (509K) -

ジャーナル フリーWater-based ink has been inferior in quality due to water resistance and alkali resistance of prints. In this study, we focused on water-soluble styrene⁄acrylic (St⁄Ac) resins as water-based gravure ink resins. St⁄Ac resins can improve the physical property of prints by changing monomer types and composition of monomers.Water-based gravure inks using St⁄Ac resins were tested. The relationship between the component of St⁄Ac resins and water resistance and alkali resistance of the prints were discussed. It was confirmed that resolubility of resins was opposite to water resistance and alkali resistance of prints. However, it was difficult to anticipate the printing quality from the composition of resin. To appreciate the hydrophobic properties of resins, the logarithm of 1-octanol-water partition coefficient (LogP) of St⁄Ac resins was calculated from the mole fraction of monomers and LogP of monomers. As a result, LogP of St⁄Ac resins correlated with the resolubility of the resin and water resistance and alkali resistance of prints.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (491K)
