The general history and definition of smart textile are first explained and then music player jacket and solar power suit are introduced as historical fundamental smart wears. Next, all basic components for preparing smart textile such as conductive fiber, conductive paste, various kinds of sensors and autonomous batteries are introduced. Above all, the conductive fiber, which is a very important member, will be described in detail including the manufacturing method. Elemental technologies for connecting the components such as solder, printed electronics, embroidery and so on are explained. Finally, the domestic and overseas development trends of vital sensing wear as the most important target of smart textiles are shown. The heart monitoring wear made by Japanese textile manufacturers are explained, comparing the world’s most advanced non-contact heart sensing wear developed in Taiwan. In addition, it is shown that the most successful vital sensing wears are developed in France and these are worn by patients in more than 75 hospitals around 11 countries. The other related items like heating and cooling wears also are introduced.

Covid-19 has given us a lot of awareness. One of them is from the "human-centered world" that developed countries have been promoting with priority on economic activities: (1) mutant viruses and (2) global environment (sea level rise due to climate change, natural disasters, water, food, and resource depletion problems, etc.). And (3) we realized that we have entered a world where AI (Singularity in 2045) coexists. Furthermore, Japan is aging rapidly. Innovation in smart textiles and smart wear that we wear every day is indispensable for the realization of a sustainable society. Consider the evolution of future smart textile wear from traditional analog clothing.

In these days, the number of patients suffering from heat stroke is increasing. But, to determine heat stroke, most people tend to be empirical evidence. Therefore, we recognized the need for technology to prevent heat stroke before it happens. We have converted a single-lens camera into a near-infrared camera to measure the hemodynamic changes before and after exercise. In this study, we measured the IR images from human skin surface and calculated the reflectance images from IR images. And we performed three types of experiments, 1) Forearm measurement in the darkroom, 2) Sole measurement in the darkroom, 3) Outdoor forearm measurement. The results show that the relationship between reflectance images and hemodynamic changes, it was suggested that it could be used as a guide to prevent heat stroke.
