Presented is a philosophy of series-resonance inverter by reverse-conducting thyristor (RTh) for driving high-power ultrasonic homogenizer system. The high-frequency inverters have been developed in various ways, but among the rest, the high-frequency inverter by RTh possesses the following remarkable features; (1) The maximum voltage applied across thyristor is very small even in the case of high-resonance sharpness of the series turned circuit. (2) The stability of thyristor commutation is high even in open-loop system, and the wide range of load variations can be actualized as the stable operation region. (3) The distortion factor of output current and voltage is small.
In this article, author describes mainly the steady-state preformance analysis of the RTh type series resonance inverter in R-C load, and analized the stable steady-state operation region and frequency maximums by method of normalization.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate starting characteristics of multicylinder diesel engines which are operated by the compressed air. A non-supercharged three cylinder diesel engine was chosen as the calculating model engine, so that the engine speed was raised in various starting conditions, then some characteristics of the engine were calculated by a Hybrid computer.
In the simulation program, all dynamics of the engine including the governor, gas pressure and gas temperature in the cylinders were computed with the analog components and data of the friction losses and rates of heat release were calculated with the digital system. The approximate equations which were obtained from engine tests were applied.
The calculated results agreed approximately with the test results of the engine.

Development of energy-saving marine propulsion plant is one of the subjects for marine transportation rationalization. KSE plant (Kawasaki Super Economical Propulsion Plant), which Kawasaki developed late in 1976 and the first set of which is successfully in service on MT “ALAMO”, is one of the most advanced propulsion plants which meet the present needs. We describe the outline of this plant together with the actual operating experience of MT“ALAMO”.
