JOURNAL FREE ACCESSIn this paper, a novel zero current switching (ZCS) high frequency inverter using DC reactor (DCL) as a resonance was developed for the induction heating system which reduces the particulate matter (PM) exhausted from diesel engine. The effects of DCL for ZCS characteristics with reactor ratio was experimentally investigated. On the basis of the numerical analysis of the ZCS characteristics, the high frequency power supply was designed. JOURNAL FREE ACCESSThe new hydrographic surver ship “SHOYO” with capacity of 3, 200tons, is now under construction in the Japan Maritime Safety Agency as a replacement of the old ship “SHOYO” which was constructed in 1972.
This new ship is expected to be completed in March, 1998.
The electric propulsion system was first employed in the Japan Meritime Safety Agency. It is equipped with diesel engine generators as a power source for every application on sailing.
The electric propulsion system is provided with 2 sets of 2, 800kW main-generators to drive the fixed pitch propellers at a motor output and speed of 2, 100kW/262-290rpm ahead.
The thyristor motor system is applied to driving 2 sets (2 shafts of propellers.)
In addition, one set of bow-thruster (800kW) is located at the stem for controling the ship with the Joy-stick conbined to the electric propulsion system during fixed point observation.View full abstractDownload PDF (4361K) -

JOURNAL FREE ACCESSDespite several improvement to promote safe navigation, accidents, collisions and grounding have not decreased. To address principal known causes of collisions and grounding, advanced system to support the navigator ware developed and combined with both ECDIS and ARPA in a more compact and light weight console.
The authors emphasized improving the systematic tracking of the ships radar signal and tested them in two trials aboard the training Ship Shioji-maru and in one trial on land from a radar research van. Furthermore, the several functions of the system have been improved for adout one year. From experience analysing the test data and the improvement several function, we consider that results successfully promote safe navigation.View full abstractDownload PDF (173K) -
