The working group of“Research sub-committee for Mechatrosystems”which belongs to“Research committee for diesel engines”have tried the mentioned questionaire at the end of March, 1992 in view of the importance of the controlling for present vessels against Japanese shipping companies. Reported here is the results.
This paper describes the results of a questionaire of remote control system, governor, and combustion parameter control system such as fuel injection timing, injection pressure and inlet valve, exhaust valve timing control, in marine diesel engine.
We can see such a concept prevailingly on the increase that automaticallyoperated vessel shall be promoted with the installation of controllable pitch propeller (C.P.P.), to be accompanied by energy-saving and improvement of maneuverability. Under the situation, we requested the shipping companies in Japan to make their reply to our questionnaire in order that we could grasp the purpose, controlling method, performance to cost, and maintenance servicing with regard to the C.P.P. installation, as well as our groping for the ralative most possible inclination for the future. From the results of such a questionnaire, we can know the evaluation of the existing C.P.P. system made by those shipping companies and make a good acknolwedgement of the said inclination for the future, we understand.
