To find the countermeasure to decrease the ship's crew, analysis of the ship's work for existing vessel is carried out. As the result, following countermeasure is required.
Control room is so arranged that main and auxiliary machines can be operated from wheel house, and auxiliary machines for cargo handling and port use can be operated from control room combined with ballast control. Automatic control and remote control is applied more than existing one. Less maintenance and easy maintenance is considered. Maintenance work in port is shifted to shore service.
The vessel designed according to above-mentioned countermeasure is operated by 18 crews, and expected to decrease crews 16 or less.
