A design method of vacuum gap switch and a switch designed by the method are deecribed.
It has already been cleared that the withstanding voltage can be rised by series connection of them without falling down the triggering characteristics. In this work, factors that affect the withstandin, , voltage and triggering characteristics are examined on a simple spark gap in a vacuum vessel.
According to the results a prottype vacuum switch is designed. From the view points of minimizing the residual inductance and noises with high current discharge, the switch has coaxial geometry. The withstanding voltage and triggering time of the switch are more than 25 kV and is the range of 0.25 ± 0.05 μsec respectively.
