Formation of wave packets is observed in a current-driven ion acoustic turbulence by the microwave scattering method. The wave packets propagate along the direction of the electron drift with a group velocity vg approximately equal to the value obtained from the dispersion curve for the turbulent ion acoustic waves.
A toroidal configuration where the fusion ignition may be reached by ohmic heating alone is proposed. It is a hybrid between a tokamak and a diffused pinch. The reversal of a toroidal field in a diffused pinch is replaced by a doublet-like separatrix. Experimental results on mhd stability, especially limiting q-value of the doublet configuration will determine the validity of the scheme.
