The analyses using the Vlasov equation for the stationary state of a high-β collisionless plasma have been done by many authors1)-6) , weibel1) and Harris2) diecusse the stationary state of a z-pinch plasma, and Pfirsh3), Nicholson4) , Laval, Pellat and Vuillemin5) , and Freidberg and Morse6) discussed that of a linear θ-pinch plasma.
In this paper, the stationary state of a linear θ-pinch plasma with an axial current is discussed. The assumptions that the plasma is collisionless, axially Symmetric, uniform the axial direction and neutral, are used in the derivation of the equations which describe the stationary state. The several results of the numerical analysis for the equations are figuredin Fig. 7 to Fig. 10. Furthermore, in order to compare the stationnary state having an axial culrrent, with that having no axial current, the several results of the numerical calculation for the stationaly state having no axial current are figured in Fig. 2 to Fig. 6.

An equilibrium of plasma current mdltipole configuration is studied in a linear machine, Two plasma current columns are formed in a system bounded by a metal cylinder shaped in a quadrupole-like magnetic field line. These two current cylinders are not in equilibrium, and move towards center due to their own attractive force. This movement can be suppressed an extornal magnetic field produced by a pair of currents flowing in the same direction to the plasma currents.

Frequency shift of the plasma oscillation due to the finiteness of the amplitude is investigated by the use of the asymptotic method of Bogoliubov and Mitropolsky for a one-dimensional warm electron plasma in the fluid description, The frequency shift vanishes in the limit of cold plasma in accordance with various authors. The shift derived by Sturrock is shown to be a Doppler shift due to the presence of the uniform motion of the plasma, which strayed into his formulation
