We discuss the impact of singularity, focusing primarily on the emergence and evolution of large language models such as ChatGPT. November 30, 2022, marks the beginning of a new era with the release of ChatGPT by OpenAI, highlighting the rapid increase in user adoption and the significant advancements brought about by subsequent versions such as GPT-4. We cover the competitive landscape, noting how companies such as Google and Microsoft responded to the success of ChatGPT. The article delves into the nature and capabilities of large language models, emphasizing their ability to generate human-like text, images, and code, and their transformative potential across various domains. Furthermore, we explore the societal impact of these technologies, predicting a shift in the labor market as tasks currently performed by humans become automated. We speculate on the timeline for achieving artificial general intelligence (AGI) and the potential for a singularity event, where AI surpasses human intelligence and fundamentally changes society. In conclusion, we anticipate profound changes in intellectual labor due to advancements in AGI, affecting professions such as teaching, law, and medicine, while acknowledging the challenges in predicting the exact nature and timeline of these changes. The discourse on language acquisition by machines raises philosophical questions regarding dominance and control, cautioning against the uncontrolled proliferation of highly capable AI systems.

Generative AI is a technology that generates new content and ideas through conversations, images, videos, and music, by mimicking human intelligence. DNP actively uses generative AI in its business as part of its DX promotion and accelerates the creation of new value. In addition, DNP has formulated the "DNP Group AI Ethics Policy" to address the social issues caused by the inappropriate use of generative AI and aims to use AI appropriately, effectively, and efficiently. This paper describes how generative AI is used for image generation, monozukuri, and to create new experiential value by integrating the real with the digital.

TOPPAN Inc. is developing an AI-OCR for modern handwritten text, which has been considered the most difficult task, by extending its Kuzushi-Ji AI-OCR to ancient documents from the early modern period. This paper provides an overview of the characteristics of modern handwritten characters. Additionally, it introduces the Krushi-Ji AI-OCR technology, currently under development, for early modern handwritten text.

In today's world, where diverse people coexist, it is necessary to provide accurate and fair information. Furthermore, with the popularization of various information media and ICT devices, people can easily obtain desired information at any time. However, they also encounter an amount of information exceeding their processing capacities. Companies, organizations, and public institutions that send information must be mindful of the receptivity of consumers, who are the receivers of information, when creating and transmitting information. YOMIYAS is a cloud service that automatically determines document visibility and readability. It was developed jointly by RISO KAGAKU Corporation and the Universal Communication Design Association (UCDA). YOMIYAS quantitatively evaluates information sent to consumers by companies, organizations, public institutions, etc. based on the standards of “design of easy to look at, easy to understand” formulated by UCDA.
