XFEL (X-ray Free Electron Laser) sources provide ultrashort radiation pulses with unprecedented peak brilliance and high transverse coherence. Great efforts are expected to apply such sources for the investigation of fundamental questions about ultrafast dynamical processes in biological, chemical and physical systems. An autocorrelator has used to provide jitter-free replica pulses for x-ray pump / x-ray probe experiments. We have fabricated a single crystalline Si beam splitter used in an autocorrelator with PCVM (Plasma Chemical Vaporization Machining) which can remove lattice strain and fabricate with high removal rate. As the result of evaluation of the beam splitter using multiple crystal arrangements at SPring-8 BL29XUL, it was found that the Si beam splitter whose thickness was less than 20 μm hardly has lattice strain.

The purpose of this study is development of the small magnetic polishing tool for fixing to machine tools such as machining center. Development of the general-purpose magnetic polishing tool is important, and by installing the magnetic polishing tool to machining center, the polishing using NC program data for the mold making becomes possible, and the labor saving of the hand finishing process can be expected as a result. In this study, small magnetic polishing tool for milling machine was developed. This tool uses the permanent magnet for the miniaturization. In addition, it has the uninterrupted slurry supply unit. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the lowering of the processing efficiency by the life of abrasives. In this paper, the effect of magnetic pole configuration and of slurry supply condition on the polishing performance is examined.

Thermal deformation of workpiece due to grinding heat can make it difficult to meet the requirement of dimensional accuracy. We developed calculation method of workpiece thermal deformation by using the measured grinding force with strain gauge fixed on the center pressor. But it is not easy to measure the grinding force in practical applications. So in this study, an in-process prediction system of workpiece thermal deformation during cylindrical plunge grinding is newly developed. In the new system, temperature distribution in the workpiece is calculated based on the grinding efficiency and workpiece surface temperature which are measured during grinding easily, and the thermal deformation of workpiece is predicted.

In the internal grinding with grinding wheel that has high-aspect-ratio to finish deep hole, the dimensional accuracy becomes worse because of elastic deformation of wheel spindle and thermal expansion of not only workpiece but grinding wheel by grinding heat. In this study, grinding force and temperature distribution in workpiece were measured by the developed in-process measurement system. The causes of dimensional error in ground workpiece were experimentally investigated by analyzing wheel wear, elastic deformation, thermal expansion, and the above-mentioned in-process measuring data.

The contact area of a braid and processing work was derived geometrical, and the agreement with the spindle current level that was the processing resistance index was considered. The current level shows a change of the triangular wave type from the trapezoid wave pattern and the maximums increased with the cut depth addition, and then this behavior agrees with a blade contact area for the processing work. Moreover, the contact area on the braid side predominantly contributes to the processing resistance in the cut 0.5mm or more depth.

The Multi-wire Saw is used for the slicing of single crystal silicon ingot of the solar cells. In this processing method, a large number of wafers can be sliced at one time processing by using shin piano wire. On the other hand, the sliced wafer surface is ordered high quality and the high accuracy. But, many problems are occurring on the sliced surface. In this paper, the slurry behavior at the parallel and the chamfering part are observed by a high-speed video camera. And, the relations the slurry behavior at edge and the entered air behavior from wire exit are considered.

A new tool allocation method is proposed, in this paper, to consider both the load balancing among the machining centers (MCs) and the transportation time of jobs between the MCs. The proposed tool allocation method consists of two steps. In the first step, the individual tools are assigned to the tool sets based on the integer programming, in order to balance the load among the tool sets. In the second step, the individual tool sets are assigned to the MCs based on the quadratic assignment problem, in order to minimize the transportation time of jobs. Some case studies have been carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Good service does not always diffuse because consumer utility of service is heterogeneous because of service characteristics such as intangibility and heterogeneity. Therefore, it is necessary to study diffusion of service by computer simulations to clarify the process of acceptance among consumers. This paper presents a multiagent-based model for diffusion of service which is purchased repeatedly including heterogeneity of consumer utility in complex networks. It is verified that the heterogeneity of consumer utility and network structure affect service diffusion process in the results of computer simulations.

Service Engineering is one of the ″knowledge″ focuses customer value or creates value by combining service and product. On one hand, an economic cost for producing a product and/or service is also frequently considered by any organizations. Thus, in Service Engineering, the cost evaluation method was proposed to evaluate service from the viewpoints of customer importance and economic cost while this method is no consideration of ″difference between direct and indirect cost for cost object″ and ″depreciation cost of entity″, which may affect an actual amount of economic cost. Thus, this paper proposes a cost classification based on accounting perspective in order to improve existing analysis process of economic cost.
