In the present experiment, cane seedings raised with paper pot (Nitten Paper No.7 being used) were compared with those raised ordinarily in respect to their growth after transplanting on the field from the nursery. The seedlings concerned were of various age of growth, e, i., 40, 50 and 60 days after seed planting.
The results obtained shows that (1) regardless of age of cane seedlings, in ordinarily raised seedling new leavs could not be observed till about 2 weeks after transplanting, while in those raised with paper pot, they were observed soon a week after it, (2) consequently further growth of seedlings raised with paper pot pnoved far better than that of those raised ordinarily.
According to the above noted results, it may be recommendable to use seedlings raised with paper pot if unsporuted individuals in ratoon cropping are to be replanted for the purpose of minimanizing cane yield reduction in ratoon culture.
