D, myoporoides R. BR. were cultivated from June to October (1972) on the following conditions: (A) high temperature and high humidity; (B) high temperature and low humidity; (C) low temperature and low humidity.
1) More plants died under the first condition (A), while almost none of them died under the other two conditions.
2) Under the condition (A) and (B), the stems grew tall and the leaves increased in number. Under the condition (C), however, this was not true.
3) On the three conditions noted above the yield of stems and roots was almost the same. Although the yield of leaves was almost the same under the condition (A) and (B), it was very small in quantity under the condition (C) .
4) The weight of the unit leaf area was more under the condition (C) than under the other conditions, and the weight was almost the same under the condition (A) and (B) .
5) The total alkaloid percentage in the leaves showed almost no difference under the three conditions, but under the condition (A) it had a tendency to decrease.
6) The scopolamine content of the alkaloid hardly showed any difference under the three conditions but under the condition (A) it did tend to increase somewhat.
7) The yield of the total alkaloid and scopolamine content in the plant depended on the amount of leaves.
