The seeds and the optimum temperature for germination of some species of
Palmae were studied.
The results are summerized as follows:
1) In this study seeds of the following 3 species belonging to 3 genera were used.
a)
Livistona chinensis R. Br.
b)
Roystonea regia O. F. Cook
c)
Phoenix roebelenii O' Brien
2) The sizes and weights of the seeds were different among the species. The size, weight and volume weight (weight per a liter) of the seeds of each species are shown in Table 1 and 2.
3) The germination test was done to know the practical optimum temperature for germination of the seeds of each tree species.
The results are shown in Table 3.
4) The optimum temperature for germination of
Livistona chinensis and
Roystona regia was 35°C, and of
Phoenix roebelenii was 30°C.
