This is the first record of Gymnoderma coccocarpum Nyl. from the Philippines. It is widely distributed in eastern Asia including Himalaya, China, Thailand, Java, Borneo, Philippines, Formosa, and Japan. The known north most locality of G. coccocarpum is the Yakushima Island, Japan, which is the southmost locality of the other related species, G. insulare.
Frequency Distributions on the mineral components (potassium, calcium, sodium, phosphorous, ferrous and magnesium) contained in The fruits and leaves of Shishito (Capsicum annuum L) are given as normal ones in the observed or converted values into logarithms, the results of which also provid that the inorganic components contained in Shishito (Capsicum annuum L) are more abundant in the area of leaves than those in the fruits. The following differencies of partial distribution between the leaves and the fruits are recognized in each components ; that is, potassium are 2.4 times are much abndant in the leaves as in the fruits ; sodium, 2.0 times ; ferrous, 3. 2 times ; magnesium, 5. 4 times : calcium, 12 times. The abrupt conditions for lowering the dissolution of calcium and heightening the uptake of potassium, sodium, and phosphorous from Shishito, were found to control the boilling in water for 5 minutes in the case of fruits, and at 100 ℃ for 3 minutes in the case of leaves.
1 . Storeptococcus mutans was isolated from the dental plaque in the oral cavity of female students of Kochi Gakuen College. 2. Among 148 female students, S. mutans was isolated in 114 students. 3. Among five strains of Shllair classification, two strains were identified as c and b, respectively. 4. Among 114 samples of S. mutans, 112 samples were identified as strain C, and only 2 samples as strain b. However, one sample of the two b samples shows ± in L-Arginin reaction. 5. This seems to be the first report of the strain b isolation. This is also the first isolation report of S. mutans from residents in Kochi.
