The purpose of this paper is to find issues of guidance on teaching practices in Department of Early Childhood Education and Care, Kochi Gakuen College. The students have to study five teaching practices in two years to get two qualifications, kindergarten teacher and nursery. The subject of this study was the students who finished all teaching practices. The author asked them the following question"Which training gave you the strongest impressions? " According to their answers, most of them seemed to feel great difficulties in teaching practice at a kindergarten and teaching practice at a social welfare institution. To reduce their difficulties in teaching practice at a kindergarten, for example, it is necessary to lay emphasis on prior guidance for second-year students and to teach them how to build a teaching plan in detail. And for training in a social welfare institution, it is very important to improve the guidance from the perspective of knowledge about institutions and of the lifestyle of the students.
To search for a way of the effective guidance to students on nursery teacher training, authors tried to put emphasis on the prior guidance on teaching practice. From April to May, 2009, 4 groups in pairs practiced study classes in Kochi Kindergarten (a kindergarten attached to this junior college). Their comments after teaching practice told us that they could have made good use of their experiences at Kochi Kindergarten. To continue the trial of study classes, authors must reflect on the details of the trial this year, and deeply discuss how to build the plan to practice study classes with teachers at Kochi Kindergarten. And at the same time, both authors and teachers at Kochi Kindergarten must think what kind of images toward nursery teachers should be aimed at. Building the common nursery teacher image may form the basis of cooperation between a nursery teacher training school and a kindergarten attached to the school, and lead to the effective guidance on nursery teacher training.
In mind to improve eating habit for a balanced diet, a questionnaire survey for 103 students in the technical college was performed on use of fast food(FF) in their dai-ly life. The survey indicates that 47% of the students use FF because of cheaper prices, quick services, and close location of the stores. 60% of non-FF users were conscious of their eating habit. However, 50% of FF users were unconscious of their eating habits, and 30% of them did not recognize the unbalanced nutrition of FF, particularly the needs of intake of vegetables. In conclusion, it may be emphasized that the technical college students should pay much attention to correct intake of balanced foods in their daily eating habits.
It has been argued recently that the so-called lexical compounds that Kageya-ma (1993) proposes should be reexamined. In fact, many linguists including Nishiyama (1998), Hasegawa (1999) and Saito (2001) have argued that the lexical compounds should be formed in the syntactic component, not in the lexicon. In this paper, the compounds including -kiru in Japanese are examined, and the main claims here are 1) that there are three types of compounds including -kiru in Japanese, 2) that the three types of compounds come from the different syntactic structures. Finally, this paper presents a piece of evidence for the syntax of event structure (cf. Ramchand (2008)).
