To improve the working environment for cleaning metal fittings with acetone, a theoretical exhaust volume of 60,000 m3/h or more is required for an upward-suction-type hood that can cover a wide working area of 1.15 m above the source. Therefore, we devised an exhaust auxiliary device that blows clean air from the inner side of the circumference surrounding the center of the concave outlet, enveloping the acetone and pushing it up to the area where it can be captured by the upward-suction-type hood. In the cleaning operation under disturbed airflow, the hood the exhaust volume and the air supply volume of the exhaust auxiliary device set at approximately 1/34 and 1/350 of the theoretical exhaust volume, the device was operated. As a result, the risk of acetone exposure was reduced and the working environment improved. Additionally, it was also effective in reducing the conveying power of the exhaust fan for an upward-suction-type hood.
