The relationship between the progress of spherical agglomeration in an agitated vessel and the change in the impeller torque was investigated experimentally. The spherical agglomeration was carried out by the addition of 20wt%-CaCl
2 aqueous solution as the bridging liquid into a CaCO
3 powder-CCl
4 slurry. The impeller torque increased with the size of agglomerates in the slurry. It is considered that the increment of the impeller torque with the size of the agglomer-ates was partially contributed by that of torque loaded by the collision between the agglomerates and the impeller blade. The torque correlated well in terms of concentration of CaCO
3 powder in the slurry and 50% diameter of the agglomerates.
