A method for the prediction of the critical moisture content of drying rate curve is presented with a simple model. When the drying intensity is relatively large, it can be predicted by use of semi-infinite model. When the drying intensity is small, the linear-flux or steady flux model can be used.
For a continuous dryer, variable humidity and temperature conditions, on the critical moisture content is predicted by the use of an extended semi-infinite model or steady-flux ration model.
Unknown diffusivity is determined from the critical moisture content data by solving the inverse problem of the prediction method for the critical moisture content.
