For the determination of D_<10> (decimal reduction value, D) value, there are several methods such as Limited Spearman Karber Procedure(LSKP)and Stumbo Murphy Cochran Procedure (SMCP) in Most Probable Number (MPN) Procedure. Furthermore, Fraction Negative Procedure and Survival Curve Method (EN) are also utilized for D value calculation. In these methods, International Organization for Standardization (ISO) or United State Pharmacopeia (USP) adopt LSKP and Japan and German industries generally utilize SMCP or EN. During discussion at ISO documents, SMCP was deleted due to being inferior to LSKP on its accuray. Therefore, in order to confirm whether this is correct or not, we carried out the comparison of both methds by simulation procedure and experimental procedure using biological indicator evaluator resistometer (BIER). The results indicated that SMCP is not always inferior to LSKP and sometimes the former is superior to the latter.
