The purpose of this study is to confirm the impact on attitude and behaviors related to school lunch of elementary pupils and junior high school students through school lunch newsletter prepared by agricultural high school students. The agricultural high school students prepared school lunch newsletters for elementary and junior high school children as well as grown products for school lunches in a food and nutrition education program at N city, Hokkaido. A self-descriptive questionnaire was used to evaluate the understanding of, as well as attitude and behavior toward school lunches and newsletters: which were 12 items like ”Was it tasty?”, ”Did you eat the lunch at all?”, ”Did you read the newsletter?”, etc. by fifth and sixth grade children at elementary school and first grade students at junior high school students in N city after completion of the program. Four hundred children answered the questionnaires. Sixty seven percent of pupils and fifty six percent of students read newsletter. The ratio of number of pupils and students those who read ”food production”, ”character and function”, ”preparation of meals” and ”balanced diet” in the newsletter was increased compared with usual school lunch newsletter. There was relationship between reading school lunch newsletter and eating all dish, sharing with friends and sharing with family. Therefore, it was identified the meaning of school lunch newsletter prepared by agricultural high school students.
