Japan is facing a "super-aging society " with an aging population that is unparalleled in the world. The purpose of this study is to verify the effects of home-visit nutritional guidance on the improvement of QOL, BMI, and diseases of the elderly living at home, and also to clarify the differences and characteristic of the content of requests by level of care and request source. The subjects of this study were 211 people who received home-visit nutritional guidance during eight years from 2012 to 2020. Nutritional interventions were assessed at the first home-visit and evaluated at the last home-visit. The QOL for subjective information was analyzed by classifying events from the records into six categories. In addition, 79 persons who had objective information, both before and after the intervention, were analyzed by dividing them based on a determined purpose into three groups: those who aimed at weight gain to avoid undernutrition, those who aimed to maintain an appropriate weight, and those who aimed to reduce obesity. The results showed that there was a significant improvement in body weight in both the gaining and losing weight groups, and our analysis showed significant intergroup differences among the three groups. Nutrition, cooking, and behavioral change were found to be significant factors in improving QOL. The results obtained suggest that home-visit nutritional guidance is effective in improving QOL, BMI, and diseases, and the characteristics of content of the requests determined by level of care and their source was clarified.
