Little attention has been paid, during past years, to the descriptive, historical and comparative studies of the so-called Kuki-Chin languages, spoken in the mountainous regions between Burma and India, East-Pakistan.
The main aim of this paper is to represent the phonological values of the initial consonants of the Proto-Kuki-Chin and to offer the newly reconstructed materials to the field of the Tibeto-Burman linguistics.
On the basis of the comparative studies with eight dialects of the Kuki-Chin language, such as Tiddim, Ngawn, Lai, Laizo, Anal Zotung, Khumi and Chinbok, it will be possible to reconstruct the following phonological values as the initial consonants of the Proto-Kuki-Chin.
