    In this paper, separation of water droplets from air including water droplets by eliminators is investigated through experiments. Eliminators used here are constructed by zigzag bended thin-plates of a similar shape, which are held parallel to the air particle flow direction and which have a dimensionless pitch of 0.75. Moreover, the plates have two different bending angles, one is 90° while the other is 60°. Furthermore, the former plate has bending numbers of 1, 2, 4 and 6 respectively while the later plate has bending number of 4. For all of the eliminators mentioned above, mean air particle velocity is varied over the range of 0.5 to 7.0 m/s, with the size of water droplets being varied over the range of 5 to 190μm. The separation efficiencies of these eliminators are sufficiently in good agreement with those predicted by theoretical analysis which has been presented by the authors of this paper. Characteristics of size distribution of water droplets at the inlet and the outlet to the eliminator and furthermore resistance coefficients of these eliminators are also investigated.

    The ac-dc electric propulsion system, proposed in this paper, is composed of the diesel driven ac generator, the transformer, the rectifier and the do propulsion motor. To obtain the fundamental characteristics and the control behaviour of the proposed system, the experimental ac-dc propulsion equipment is designed and constructed by the chopper controlled do motor simulating the diesel prime mover, the ac generator and so on.
    Experimental and analytical procedure for the determination of the block diagram and the transfer functions of the experimental system are presented. The block diagram of the system is evaluated by simulating the transient phenomena at the crash astern operation. The computed system performance fairly matches those data obtained from the experimental results.

    Classifying the electric equipments and facilities in ships, we find the most of load are rotating machines such as pumps and blowers etc. moved by induction motors, and the other load are lighting equipments and navigation instruments. We studied the influence of voltage and frequency to performance of those equipments. We found that we can calculate the revolution speed under various voltages and frequencies, if we can measure the constant Km/Kl under rated voltage and frequency. Km/Kl is proportional to the ratio of square of revolution speed to load torque. Measuring this constant, we could calculate the change of revolution speed, gantity of flow, head or total pressure and output power of pumps and blowers under various voltages and frequencies. Furthermore, we studied the performance of steering machines and lighting equipments under changing voltage and frequency.

    In the first and deliberate departure from its long-held pulse-turbocharging principle, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has recently devised a constant-pressure turbocharged, long-stroke, low-speed UE-H marine diesel engine. Except for the supercharging and exhaust-scavenging systems and specially modified few components, the H type retains the proven design of the two-stage turbocharged E type to assure high reliability and yet offers an extremely low specific fuel consumption. In total, nine UEC52/125H and UEC60/150H engines have already been manufactured and shop-tested and their performances were proven good. A thorough fuel consumption test with a 6UEC52/125H unit of 8, 000 bhp at 150 rev/min registered a specific fuel consumption of as low as 136 g/bhph at 100 per cent load. Accordingly, guaranteed specific fuel consumptions of UE-H type engines have officially been decreased and that of UEC52/125H is 138 g/ps⋅h.

    It is the main function of funnel to draw off exhaust gas and mist gas discharged from several equipments in engine room to atmosphere, but also funnel has further big function to keep looking harmony and beauty of ship with the form and the colour.
    Whereupon, the is a guidance about the general procedures of out-fitting for funnel of which the basic design, the detail design and process of manufacturing in accordance with opinionaries from shipyards in considering of so much difference from the design and out-fitting of each shipyard.
