A dietary cure is one of the principles of the treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) in the diagnosis and treatment guide; however, little is known about its accurate efficacy. We evaluated the effects of a nutritional counseling on laboratory data in 67 outpatients with NAFLD. The single nutritional counseling significantly reduced the serum levels of AST, ALT, and gamma-GTP. Thirty-four of 67 patients received the repeated nutritional counseling, and we further evaluated clinical character as well as laboratory data. The repeated counseling not only reduced the serum levels of ALT and gamma-GTP, but also reduced BMI, body weight, and waist. Moreover, it significantly reduced the daily intake of energy, protein, fat, carbohydrate, and cholesterol, but it also reduced that of vitamin E, vitamin C, and dietary fiber. As a conclusion, the nutritional counseling could improve clinical parameters in the patients with NAFLD, therefore, it should be basically needed in the treatment of NAFLD.
