Although providing information on nutrition in medical and nursing care is not enough, it has been reported that an appropriate diet leads to improvement in nutritional status. Actively spreading nutritional information is thought to help the improvement of patientsʼQOL. From Feb. to Mar. 2017, we followed the nutritional status of 13 patients who received meals which were planned based on "the report of providing medical nutritional information" and examined the usefulness for our patients. Through the investigation, we found that 46 percent of the patients improved their nutritional status.
However, drawing up this kind of report hasn't been a common practice. No increase of issuing rate was seen after the meeting, in which we received responses that supported the necessity and usefulness. By utilizing the reports, the time to prepare the nutrition management plan / nutrition care plan was significantly shortened, and the work load was reduced. This suggests that using the reports was very effective not only for maintaining but also for improving nutritional status.
