The future as well as current and upcoming trends in implantology are based on experiences in dental offices by practitioners and clinicians and supported by research results as scientific base for future developments. The main goal for dentists and patients are faster, easier and safer treatment modalities with a predictable and long-time successful outcome. Up to now we assume that a foreign body out of metal or ceramics will be incorporated but in reality it is not clear shown why that is possible related to all involved hard and soft tissues.
Fact is that we are not able to create new teeth in natural shapes although stem cells could realize this dream in the future. Research in this field is ongoing but in the moment everybody looks more intensive to CBCT-Scans and the digital world for implantation procedures and prosthetic reconstructions.
Under many influences for the success of implants currently and in the future the presentation will specially focus on the general health conditions of the patients becoming older as in the past. A special focus will be also given concerning the behaviour of cortical bone structures and biomechanical and biodynamic aspects and their impact to future implant design and measurable preconditions for implants and implant materials.
