JOURNAL FREE ACCESSThis paper surveyed 61 actual homemaking classes related to the local dietary culture, reported by the Kumamoto Prefecture Homemaking Education Circle. The findings were as follows. 1.Processed food and raw food were used as teaching substance mostly, and food preparation followed them. 2.In the earlier classes, local teaching substance were used, while since 1980' the local dietary culture was studied using teaching substance which had no relation to the area's life. 3.The students learned the local dietary culture in their practical classes and by interviewing people in the area. 4.The teachers examined the local dietary culture in terms of teahing substance by interviewing the people in the area and their own experiences.View full abstractDownload PDF (849K) -

JOURNAL FREE ACCESSThe aim of this study was to define and identify the fundamental values involved in the decision-makig employed by students in their autonomous food life. The working hypothesis verified was:there is a difference between junior and senior high school students in actual self and idealized self on value consciousness and behavior concerning their eating habits. The subjects were 478 junior high and 517 senior high school students. They were asked about skipping or going without breakfast, having meals alone and others. The results were as follows:there was a clear difference on value consciousness and behavior between junior and senior high school students. JOURNAL FREE ACCESSThe aim of this paper was to clarify the problem connected with home economics education in elementary schools from 1947 to 1955, and to consider the counterplan of the concerned persons to home economics education. This paper took up the argument of abolition and subject teacher of home economics. JOURNAL FREE ACCESSBehaviors of senior high school students in practice of participating in activities with children were investigated. Characteristic behaviors seen in students with good feelings toward children are as follows: Students try to contact with children willingly, they can watch several children and accept all of them, and they try to talk to children watching their eyes. On the contrary, students with bad feelings toward children are as follows: They cannot contact with children by themselves, they often stay alone or join their friends without contact with children, they look around with a blank look, and they cannot continue activities with children for a long time.View full abstractDownload PDF (1022K) -
