A long-baseline neutrino-oscillation experiment using a well-defined neutrino beam is in preparation at KEK. Neutrinos generated at KEK will be detected by the Super-Kamiokande detector 250 km away. The design of the neutrino beam line, beam monitors and detector are briefly presented. The sensitivities for neutrino oscillations are also discussed.

Current activities and future prospects in rare kaon decay experiments are briefly reviewed for theoretical particle physicists. The first evidence for the K^+→π^+νν^^-decay by the BNL E787 Collaboration has opened a new era of testing the Standard Model by measuring rare processes. Several kaon decay modes that have been under studies are discussed. An English version of thie review will appear elsewhere [1].

We performed single-photon interference experiments with fast choppers. The normalized interference amplitude showing the linear dependence on the transmission probability of the fast chopper suggests that a fast beam chopper changes a single-photon wave function Ψ(t) to √(t)Ψ(t) just behind the chopper where f(t) is the rectangular function corresponding to the open-closed cycle of the chopper
