We construct N = 2 chiral supergravity (SUGRA) which leads to Ashtekar's canonical formulation. The supersymmetry (SUSY) transformation parameters are not constrained at all and auxiliary fields are not required in contrast with the method of the two-form gravity. We also show that our formulation is compatible with the reality condition, and that its real section is reduced to the usual N = 2 SUGRA up to an imaginary boundary term.

I propose to reformulate the gauge field theory as the perturbative deformation of a novel topological quantum field theory. It is shown that this reformulation leads to quark confinement in QCD_4. Similarly, the fractional charge confinement is also derived in the strong coupling phase of QED_4. As a confinement criterion, we use the area decay of the expectation value of the Wilson loop.

We discussed neutrino masses and mixings in SUSY SO(10) model where quarks and leptons have Yukawa couplings to two 10 and one <126>^^^- Higgs scalars. In this model, the Dirac and the right-handed Majorana mass terms are expressed by linear combinations of quark and charged lepton mass matrices, which then determine the neutrino mass matrix by the seesaw mechanism. We show that there are various solutions to reproduce a large mixing angle for ν_μ-ν_γ and a small mixing angle for ν_e-ν_μ, as well as the hierarchical mass spectrum of neutrinos.

We investigate the neutrino masses and mixings extending the supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) by adding one pair of extra femilies (ESSM). We show that an SO(10) grand unified is possible to reproduce the neutrino masses and mixings consistent with the present indications with an additional SU(2)_L singlet neutrino with very light mass and which naturally has large mixing with muon neutrino. This explains the atmospheric neutrino anomaly, and the tau neutrino is provided as a candidate for the hot dark matter. Also we shortly address the bottom tau ratio problem which in the usual MSSM prohibits the the existence of the Majorana mass with its mass less than 10^<12-13> GeV. We argue that ESSM is free from the bottom tau problem. Finally we argue the U(1) assignment of our texture of the fermion and Higgs fields.
