This research looks at the adoption of Internet and mobile applications in Japan and the United States. It is the intent of this exploratory study to examine the factors of adoption for PC and mobile online shopping for data collected in the two countries. After a comprehensive review of the literature, we derived a research model for and tested related hypotheses with data collected from 437 students in the two countries. This study provides managers with a framework for online shopping which areas they need to focus upon when launching new online products, such as shaping and/or changing their consumers' attitude toward using the Internet, making their Website easier to use, and enhancing the perceived usefulness of the technologies that allow consumers to access their products online.

This research examines the constructs of high and low trust on consumer's behavior with online shopping. We developed a research model to study the acceptance of online shopping applications hypothesizing that trust influences consumer's attitude toward e-store shopping. Causal antecedents of trust included ease of use, level of online shopping resources, and intrinsic motivation. With 955 consumers, we found a relationship between intrinsic motivation and online shopping satisfaction among high trust persons. After developing two models to compare high trust persons' with low trust persons' responses, findings suggest that attitude is important for low trust person satisfaction. Not only attitude, but also usefulness of online shopping is important for high trust person satisfaction.

Location information is growing on the Internet, due to the spread of mobile devices and social media worldwide. This paper analyzes similarities and differences in information-posting behavior among locales based on geographical information extracted from images posted on blogs and location information services with Twitter. The geographical information is classified into the administrative divisions of Japan and each hour in a day. According to the results of analysis, in terms of mutual correlation, images are quickly posted on blogs in business centers, whereas they are posted on blogs long after they were shot in residential areas. Moreover, Twitter posts containing location information more closely resemble blog posts than images in terms of posting time.

A large amount of money has been invested in developing the e-government service systems in the municipalities in Japan during this decade. However, the rate of using them has been staying very low so far. A System Dynamics macro model of the e-government services provided by a municipality is created in this study based on the previous studies. It includes both the citizens' aspects on accessing and using the services and the municipality's aspect on supplying them. Although the statistical data necessary for the simulation is not complete, the results of simulations in a municipality are shown and analyzed as a trial.

A decision tree model is a useful representative classification model. Its effectiveness is shown in many previous papers for learning or prediction problems and a variety of decision tree generating algorithms have been proposed. Many of them can be considered to be the methods of that select one model from a possible tree model class by the given training data. Then the Bayes optimal prediction algorithm using the mixture model of all the decision tree models has been proposed. However, the objective variables were limited to be in discrete values in the method. In this study, we propose the Bayes optimal prediction algorithm that is able to deal with a continuous value. Then the proposed method is applied to a case study and its effectiveness is shown.

With the recent spread of internet, the number of websites in where users can freely share information and own opinion is increasing rapidly. Therefore, user reviews are also increasing constantly and it is difficult for people to see all reviews. In this study, we propose a technique for automatic summarization of user reviews to analyze opinions of all users. Concretely, the automatic summarization problem is formulated by extracting important reviews from the viewpoint of combinational optimization, and the optimum solution is searched by genetic algorithm. The proposed technique is applied to an extraction problem of reviews on "jalan.net" that is one of online websites to show its effectiveness.

Due to the rapid technological innovation, discontinuation of service parts production is getting earlier. It is a few years after the release of the product that manufactures have to decide the procurement of the parts to be required for coming 10 to 20 years. Time series forecasting methods such as exponential smoothing are unsuitable for such long term forecasting in the early stage. Thus, we propose a new demand forecasting method for service parts utilizing empirical distribution of the demand. The distribution is constructed from the demand of the parts whose attributes are similar to the target part. It is confirmed that the proposed method has the ability to forecast the parts on which the conventional methods do not work.

In addition to companies' promotion activities using traditional mass media communication, today's Information propagation on products or services are attributed to social influences generated by spontaneous information exchange among consumers. In generating such social influences, face-to-face communication still plays a significant role, although the majority of recent researches seem to emphasize new communication tools, such as SNSs and micro blogs. In this study, we have focused on face-to-face communication, and have conducted an internet survey to collect data to investigate actual conditions and mechanism how social influences are generated in face-to-face communication.

In this paper, a new representation of group decision making situations based on social network theory is provided, and the situations are analyzed by using the Heider's balance theory. A group decision making situation consists of multiple decision makers, and they are, as a whole, required to choose one or more alternatives out of a set of all alternatives. Such a situation accompanied with a hierarchical structure of the group of decision makers, social relationships among decision makers, and preferences of decision makers toward alternatives is represented as a signed graph. Then, the analysis of the situation with the Heider's balance concept reveals a relationship between stable states of the situation in the Heider's sense and the structure of the situation as a social network.

In the situation that some resources are allocated to the players, proposing alternatives by each player has high impact to allocation results. The assumption of this paper is that all players can negotiate each other. A method to compare allocation results is proposed. Binary relation is used in this study. At first, resource allocation situation is described by characteristic function form games which is a model of cooperative game theory. Next, a bargaining rule in the framework of characteristic function form games is introduced. A method to compare allocation results derived from the bargaining rule is proposed. Some examples which shows how to work the proposed method is given. Lastly, proposed method is analyzed from the viewpoint of the sense of collective choice theory.

The students can take each class repeatedly at any time, everywhere if they have only a PC and broadband environment. Therefore dissolution of education gap, such as location, age or handicap of the learners is expected. On the other hand, a change of the class style requires a study of a new framework of efficient education and methods of evaluation for education effect. In this paper, we show results of student questionnaire analyses and study of an evaluating model for e-learning classes.

Generally, Manga has been used for beginners to help their understandings with a simplified story, however, we focused on its complexity to express embed multiple contexts, even unconsciously, reflecting our real-life situations. Based on the manner to organize case-method materials, which treat decision-making situations, we describe our making process. Firstly, we establish a main question, and sub questions derived from elements of the story. Then, we embed multiple contexts in drawings and remove some details intentionally for readers to find out what should be a problem then.

Many manufacturers are utilizing management dashboard. The devised visualization of PSI (Product, Sales and Inventory) data is required so that manufacturers can obtain useful information to grasp the situation and awareness according to the role of users. This paper proposes PSI feature mapping method for SCM department managers. Our method visualizes a scatter chart represents a products distribution, with axes representing PSI data such as inventory, sales and their time changes. The chart enables for managers to understand the situation of PSI at a glance. If products have problem such as decreasing sales but increasing inventory, they are distributed on the same area in the chart and are extracted. So managers can take measures to solve the problem quickly and manage PSI adequately.

SCM reduces stock of the whole supply chain. Moreover for it is able to make a lead time shorter, it brings all suppliers in a chain many profits. However, in fact Application of SCM goes wrong in many cases. The cause of many failures is in trade-off between portion optimal and whole optimal .Since each supplier is an independent company, it wants to make the profits into the maximum in the short term, but it is necessary to take whole profits into consideration in the long run. So we study the degree of the balance in both profits by using business game.

Value of EDCP can be understood as generalized value adding value of time. The largest value of time CVS provides is freshness by new products. Value of time by long business hours and convenient location might lose its advantage. The rest of time till use by date is not significant as value of time, so clearance sales in CVSs might not supported from the view of economic rationality

In recent years, the application of optimization technology to business activities is becoming more and more practical, due to the improved computing power and its lower price. In particular, PSO (Particle Swam Optimization) is drawing much attention as one of the evolutionary computation methods to solve the continuous optimization problem with multi-peak objective function. PSO is algorithm created by mimicking the food-seeking behavior of swarm of organisms, such as birds and fish. As one approach to make the further improvement, this paper focuses on one of the major weaknesses that PSO is trapped into local optima, and to overcome this weakness, proposes the parameter adjustment with consideration to searching phase and the new strategy of information sharing called Rbest Model.

When it provides against natural disasters such as earthquake, most popular safety measure is to increase strength of structures. That is so effective, but from practical point of view, overcrowding of refugees into one place might also cause another accident. Therefore, it is important to estimate how or where people evacuate by agent-based modeling.
In this paper, we have simulated evacuation dynamics at the university assuming that all know where exits are. As a result, we showed where refugees crowded to and how risk was.

In this paper, we study under what condition norms spread using a mathematical model. We are interested in the norms that have effect on people widely. In the model, we assume that an agent decides whether he complies or not depending upon his conviction level of the norm, and his enforcement level from people around him. In addition to this assumption, I assume that a male agent tends to comply the norm in comparison to a female agent when agent is enforced to comply the norm. We particularly focus on the role of a female agent who believe the norm.
