A combination of thin-layer chromatography and infrared spectrophotometry technique was used for identification of trace amounts of some organophosphorus insecticides (dimethoate and a mixture of methylparathion-sumithion) extracted from plant materials. The advantages of this method are the relative simplicity, the rapidity, the reliability of identification in one or mixture of insecticides, and the possible application to another insecticides.

The analytical methods for the test of pilocarpine in hair tonics were established by means of ion exchange methods, ultraviolet absorption spectra, precipitation reactions, color reactions and paper chromatography. Attempts to eluate the pilocarpine with N-HCl from the Amberlite IR-120 or Dowex 50 X-2 were unsuccessful, but suitable results were obtained from Dowex 50 X-1 (closslinking 1). Limits of identification of these methods are from 1.52 to 6.25 mg % of pilocarpine in the samples.

The removal method of NO₂ from waste gases by NH₃ was investigated. A high level of removal efficiency was gained by mixing of NH₃ and NO₂ in gaseous phase or by the washing with aqueous ammonia. As small particles of ammonium salt becomes a lot of white smoke, its removal must be taken for this method.

The method for evaluation of mercury vapor detector tube is described. The apparatus which continuously supplies the constant concentration of gas by means of vapor pressure was designed to prepare the test gas. The dithizone method was adopted for the standard analysis and the accuracy of the detector tubes was checked by identifying the data with the calculated values and the results of dithizone method. Investigating the above method for Kitagawa's mercury vapor detector tube, good agreement of three kinds of values and no variation caused by lot number of detector tubes were observed. Therefore, the proposed method is considered to be adequate for evaluation of mercury vapor detector tubes.

Subsequently to the preceding report the evaluation methods of detector tubes for n-hexane and cyclohexane were investigated. Continuous generation method was used to prepare the test gas and gas chromatography was adopted as the standard method. The result showed that the calculated values, the values of gas chromatography and that obtained by Kitagawa's detector tube method were in good agreement with each other and the values did not vary with the lot number of detector tubes. Thus, as the standard method for analysis of some hydrocarbon such as n-hexane and cyclohexane which are unable to be determined chemically, it seems appropriate to compare these values, that is, theoretical value calculated from vapor pressure, gas chromatographical value and that obtained by detector tubes method.

This report deals with the methods of preparation and standard evaluation of some sample of gases, such as NO₂, SO₂, H₂S, Cl₂, NH₃ and CO₂ that can not be prepared by use of their vapor pressure. As the standard method, diazotizing method for NO₂, p-rosaniline formaldehyde method for SO₂, methyleneblue method for H₂S, o-tolidine method for Cl₂, Nessler method for NH₃ and barium hydroxide method for CO₂ were adopted. The results obtained from the present standard evaluation method were in good accordance with those obtained from the experiment using Kitagawa's detector tubes, and the evaluated values did not vary with the lot number of detector tubes.

The values of some colloid reactions, such as Donaggio reaction (Gakuken method ; D-reaction), The Product of Ogawa colloid reaction and urinary volme (O×U-reaction) and cupriferrocyanide colloid reaction (Ed, value ; C-reaction) which have been used as the urinary test to estimate the degree of fatige, were measured. Effect of physicel training, mutual relationship of these colloid reactious and interrelation between these reactions and the amount of excreta as well as pH value of urine in the morning and evening were investigated. The following results were obtained. 1) D-, O×U- and C-reaction were influenced significantly by dagree of fatigue. The variance of mean value in the day when the fatigue seemed to be maximum from that in the day of non-training was in order of O×U-reaction > C-reaction > D-reaction. Individual variation was observed only in C-reaction. 2) D-reaction was always correlative with O×U-reaction, but C-reaction did not have any correlation with D- or O×U-reaction. 3) D-reaction was in proper correlation with the value of creatinine. 4) D-reaction positive substance had no significant relation to Cl^- or uropepsin. 5) Compared with O×U- and C-reaction, D-reaction seemed to be related more closely to acidosis.
