A special seminar "Mechano-world" is introduced for freshmen to study effectively at the Mechanical Engineering Department. The seminar gives them incentives to learn by themselves what and how to do during the university life. After they attend the seminar and listen to professional topics of their future studies, their learning attitude is improved well. The reports by students show that the seminar gives them a relief of anxiety coming from no specific aim in their university life. The seminar at the beginning of the university life is very important to the realization of profitable education. "Mechano-world" has therefore been planned and practiced for freshmen. Similar seminars are now practiced at many engineering departments or faculties.

Geographical information and satellite remote sensing images are very helpful teaching aid for environmental studies. Students can observe an actual information of environment by processing of the images. However, it was difficult to analyze the images using conventional programming method. To solve the problem, we have introduced Web browser and spreadsheets. We have developed data set of the images and analysis program using spreadsheets. A period of exercise for beginner students was about two months. In this paper, we show the data set of the images, analysis method using spreadsheets and samples of environmental studies.

Recently, the differences in the scholastic abilities of entering freshmen are conspicuous. To cope with the situation, detailed scholastic support is needed, instead of conventional uniform education. In addition, such freshmen require more easily understood and accessible teaching materials than is found in the trade textbooks.
This paper reports, with several examples, on the development of teaching materials which are comprehensible and accessible to a majority of medium-grade freshmen.

The subscribers of the access service to the Internet using mobile(cellular) phones have been passed 30 million people by the end of 2001. This service includes the browsing WWW pages. The existing environments for WWW page creation and network facilities for the transmissions of its WWW page contents are also able to be used for new creation of WWW pages accessible by mobile phones, so we can introduce the creation to practical programs for students, easily.
Therefore, we tried to introduce the WWW page creation of Sendai National College of Technology and the department of telecommunication to the practical program as a part of the Internet-related information education. As the result of the adopted subject which is familiar and hot topic for the students, the creation induced their interest and made them realize the need for the knowledge about the Internet. At the same time, we could give the students the opportunity to consider the importance of organization and structuralizing contents through this program.

This paper suggests a practical assessment method of educational outcomes how to extrude an evolutional strategy of under graduate educational program, and how to judge the adequacy of educational objectives. Alumni after passing 3 years, 6 years and 10 years were asked to rate the skills, abilities and attributes generally expected of an engineering graduate. That is, they were asked how important each skill and ability has been relative to their needs since graduation, and also asked to rate their own abilities achieved by the university education relative to their needs via postal questionnaire. The results were analyzed to extrude several strategies to improve the educational program and implementation system, and then a system of outcomes assessment and feedback has been established.
