Ages for the deciduous teeth eruption have been studied on a total of 2744 sucklings and infants comprising 1481 males and 1263 females ranged in age from 4 to 26 months after birth, all residing in Northern Kyushu districts. 1) Ages for Deciduous Teeth Eruption (in Months) Refer to the following Table. [table] 2) With regard to sex difference in the eruption time, it was revealed that the time was generally earlier in the male than in the female. Eruption occurred earlier in the upper than in the lower dentition in the male members, while with the female members there was no appreciable difference in this point. Nor was there any marked difference observed in the eruption time between teeth of right and left quadrants of jaws.

A male lion, aged 15.5 months died directly after compeled reaction. Remarkable findings were malformations of a heart and stomach. The results obtained were as follows : 1) Dislocation of stomach in cardiac cavity. 2) A heart depressed from lesser curvature into the lumen of stomach. 3) The surface of heart was covered with mucous membrane of stomach. The mucous membrane of stomach on the heart connected with that of stomach in the part of lesser curvature involved several blood vessels. 4) In mucous membrane of stomach surrounding ventricle, mucous epitheliums were irregular, young, largy, round or spindel cells, gastric glands were imperfect, lamina muscularis mucosae were not seen and tela submucosae was normal, musclar layer were imperfect. 5) Pericardial cavity was not seen. 6) Pulmonary artery was remarkable small-sized. 7) Persistence of foramen ovale. 8) Trace of right auricle of heart. 9) Short lesser curvature. The dislocation of stomach was due to primary organ. The accident of death was due to the persistence of foramen ovale and a small pulmonary artery.

A male spectacled caiman, aged one year (crocodyle) was dissected in 10 hours after death. The results obtained were as follows : 1) Arsenic intoxication (Arsenic was found in liver cells, Kuppfer cells, epithelial cells of renal tubules, subepithelial spaces of collecting tubules and subepithelial spaces of large intestine.). 2) Detection of thorium and uranium (Uranium in liver cells and in epithelial cells of kidneys. Thorium in liver cells.) 3) Marasmus. 4) Fluid blood. 5) Hemosiderosis in liver, spleen and bone marrows. 6) Glomerulonephritis and nephrosis. 7) Degeneration of heart mucles. 8) Broncho-pneumonia of right lung and traheo-bronchitis. 9) Degeneration of nervous cells and atrophy of nervous fibers in spinal cord. 10) Hyperkeratosis of scales (Dorsal and tail parts.). 11) SweIling of the 3rd∿4th costal verteble and the 4th right rib The death of this animal was due to chronic arsenic intoxication. The animal might be poulluted with thorium and uranium by atomic bomb experiments.

The lingual papillae occurring in a female of Mandrillus maimon Linnaeus aged 7 years and weighing 10kg. and in a male of Macacus nemestrinus aged 3 years and weighing 3.4kg. have been studied respectively and the following 4 kinds of papillae commonly occurring in other vertebrates have been confirmed. Summary of the observation was as follows. 1) P. filiformes occurred as needles covering the entire dorsal surface of the tongue. The surface epithelium was considerably cornified. The papillae in the Macacus nemestrinus were particularly slender and tall in shape. 2) P. fungiformes in the Mandrillus were mainly distributed at the tip and along the lateral margins of the tongue, while those in the Macacus were located scatteringly and almost uniformly all over the dorsal surface of the tongue. There was no taste buds found with both animals. 3) P. foliatae present in the tongue of the Mandrillus numbered 12 to 17 and those in the tongue of the Macacus 7 to 9. The taste buds counted about 10 with both animals, all located in the epithelium lining the side wall of the papillae. Numerous serous glands were present in the submucosa with both animals. 4) P. vallatae occurring in the Mandrillus counted 3 and those in Macacus 6 to 8. Those occurring in the Mandrillus were roundish and of intermediate shape between that of human tongue and that of Kangaroo tongue (Kyushu Shikagaku Zassi, vol. 13, No.2). They were somewhat depressed from the surface of the tongue and the circumscribing margin extended dorsally from the papillae. In the Macacus, however, the groove of the papillae was more shallow and the papillae projected markedly above the surface of the tongue. The taste buds numbering approximately 10 were located on the inside epithelium of the papillae.
