The following results were gained according to the experiments for the jaw phantom. 1. From the measurement of Density of X-ray phantom, the thickness of soft tissue at 6∿10mm was equivalent to the Yellow Impression Wax of thickness at 12-13.8mm, so we could replace the Yellow Impression wax instead of the soft tissue. 2. The HVL of the Yellow Impression Wax equaled to 2.2cm, and μ=0.315. 3. The measurement for the Density of photogram of w/p of plaster was 0.55-0.6, when w/p=0.4-0.6, according to the variation of w/p from the Density of the photogram, we could notice the change of Density. 4. Generally, in clinical practice, when the w/p was 0.5, the HVL equaled to 0.24cm, μ equaled to 2.88. 5. The HVL of dry Mandible equaled to 0.42cm, μ equaled to 1.65. 6. Added 3% of vesication polyethylene to a mixture of plaster 68% and acrylic resin powder 32%, then mixed up with the same rate of w/p to make a phantom of HVL=0.44cm, μ=1.57. 7. According to the result of the Diffusion Test, X-ray photographing of human body under the same condition were examined to have the same effect.

The result were summarized as follows. 1. Average Number of DMF Teeth In the Dental Hygiene School was the mean 6.2 teeth, Yahata University was the mean 5.6 teeth and Kyushu Dental College was the mean 5.6 teeth. In the female, the number was a little more than that of the male. 2. Average Number of F Teeth In the Dental Hygiene School was the mean 4.5 teeth, Kyushu Dental College was the mean 3.6 teeth and Yahata University was the mean 2.9 teeth. 3. Rate of Present Dental Needs (Untreated Cavities, Extraction Indicated and Unprocedured Missing Teeth) In the Dental Hygiene School was 27.1%, Kyushu Dental College was 28.2% and Yahata University was 44.8%.

This report dealed with correlation of the serum lactic dehydrogenase activity with the clinical status of relatively small group of patients with oral cancer, various oral diseases and apparently healthy subjects. 1) Serum was collected and assayed for LDH activity by colorimetric methods described by Cabaud and Wroblewski. 2) The normal adults range of LDH activity lie between 310 and 390 LDH units per milliliter. 3) Serum LDH activity was elevated in 58 per cent (18 of 31) patients with oral cancer, but elevated in 3.0 per cent (1 of 34) patients with non-cancerous oral diseases. 4) The serum LDH activity is not certain indicator of the presence or absence of neoplastic process, although alteration in serum LDH activity may be helpful in the diagnosis and prognosis of oral cancer.

We investigated on the status of existing rate of deciduous teeth, eruption rate of permanent teeth, dft rate and DMFT rate in 1967. The subject of study consisted of 145 males, 145 females of the children entering primary school in Kitakyushu city. Results were summarized as follows. 1. Existing Rate of Deciduous Teeth : In the male, the rate was slightly higher than in the female. 2. Existing Rate of Deciduous Teeth : In the Kitakyushu city, the rate was lower than in the Kokura city (1951) and Saga city (1959). 3. Eruption Rate of Permanent Teeth : In the female, the rate was higher than in the male. 4. Eruption Rate of Permanent Teeth : In the Kitakyushu city, the rate was higher than in the Kokura city (1951). 5. dft Rate : In the female, the rate was slightly higher than in the male. 6. dft Rate : In the Kitakyushu city, the rate was higher than in the Kokura city (1951). 7. DMFT Rate of the first molars : In the maxillary teeth, the rate was no sex difference between the two subjects, but in the submaxillary teeth of the female, the rate was slightly higher than the male. 8. Difference between the Kitakyushu city and Kokura city (1951) in the DMFT Rate of the first molars : In the male, it was nearly equal both two cities, but in the female, the rate of Kitakyushu city was higher than the Kokura city (1951).

    1) In order to design and make reasonable prosthetic crown and bridge work, particularly the porcelain jacket crown for the incisors, radiography is absolutely necessary for the observation of the crondition of the vital pulp before the preparation of the abutment teeth. 2) It is considered preferrable to have dental X-Ray taken after the removal of the enamel on the lingual surface so as to observe the exact position of the pulpal cavity. 3) As for the method for the radiography, Long-cone-technic is recommanded. 4) Even though this is not the best way for the preparation of the abutment teeth, yet it might be the subsitutional choice for such a procedure ; i.e. firstly remove the enamel on the linguo-cervical ridge and linguo-marginal ridge, then have the dental X-Ray re-taken once again.

The authors made an investigation on the fluctuation of temperature of the patients in oral surgery by thermometer using thermistor. The results obtained are as follows : A. Skin temperature ; Skin temperature of acute inflammatory lesion shows higher than normal region. Skin temperature of tumorous lesion shows a little lower than normal region. B. Temperature during surgery under local anesthesia ; (Case of the excited patient) Central temperature ascends in the course of time, whereas the peripheral temperature descends. C. We have experienced 3 cases of transverse facial cleft (oro-aural cleft) since 1966 in the First Department of Oral Surgery, Kyushu Dental College. Case 1 : two year-old girl with right transverse facial cleft and preauricular tabs Case 2 : two week-old boy with bilateral transverse facial cleft Case 3 : one week-old girl with bilateral transverse facial cleft and ankyloglossia We made chromosomal analysis by peripheral leukocyte culture technic in case 1 and case 2. It showed 46/XX in case 1 and 46/XY in case 2. There were no visible abnormalities. We incised first the fissured skin and the red lip border, then pushed back the dangling mucous menbranes inwards and sutured them together. And then we made two triangles flaps, of which a base on upper lip was in lateral side and another base on the lower lip was in mediam side, replaced each other. We gained a successful result in suturing the two triangle flaps (Z-plasty).

We obtained satisfactory result after surgical correction of prognathism by subcondylotomy on 18 year old girl, who showed tendency of underdevelopment of the maxillar and the prognathism of mandibular as she grew old, after she had accepted the plastic operation of cleft of lip, jaw and palate in infancy and child. We consider that the obliqe subcodylotomy for correct of the mandibular prognathism is much more efficient in operative procedure, because, it is not only simple on approach, but also safety on the facial nerve or main blood vessel.

An autopsy case of 12-year-old male Lesser Panda suffered from severe marginal periodontitis was presented. Patho-anatomical diagnosis was left broncho-pneumonia, congestion of lungs, filariasis, slightly fatty degeneration of liver, atrophy of pancreas and adrenal cortex, arteriosclerosis, gastro-intestinal catarrh, and severe marginal periodontitis. The drifting of tooth and periodontitis were manifested in all teeth, especially in molars. Histologically, bone resorptions were found not only in pars alveolaris but also in pars corpus and basis. Microscopic feature of bone lesion belonged to the types of smooth resorption and perforative canal formation, and the lacunar resorption type involving osteoclasts was rarely found. Arteriolosclerosis was noticed in the maxillary and mandibulary arteries. The severity of bone resorption was not positively correlated with that of gingivitis.
