Comparative studies were carried out on the anatomy of teeth of Japanese Reptilia (Gecko japonicus, Thakydromus thahydromoides, Elaphe climacophola, Eumucus latiscutatus.), and Amphibia (Rana nigromaculata, Hynobius nebulos, Diemyctylus pyrrlogaster) with special reference to their distribution, their contour and their implantation. These observations were summarized as follows. 1) Distribution of teeth. The teeth were equally distributed on the maxillar and praemaxillar in all reptilian and Amphibian animals studied. The vomer had teeth in Amphibia but not in Reptilia. It was Elaphe climacophola in Reptilia that had teeth on the pterygoid and palatal bone. All the teeth implanted on these bones were arranged in a single row. 2) Contour of teeth. In Reptilia the contour of teeth differed between four Kinds of animals studied, that is, those of Diemyctylus pyrrlogaster were nearly conical, those of Takhydromus tachydromoidia were like triangular cone, those of Eumucus latiscutatus were wedge like, and those of Elaphe climacophola exhibited sharp and long conical shape, while in Amphibia, the teeth of each species exhibited nearly the same curved conical contour. 3) Implantation of teeth. Both amphibian and reptilian animals except Elaphe climacophola exhibited one-sided row of teeth on the bony process, while the teeth in Elaphe climacophola were seated at the top of the bony-process. The teeth of all the animals studied were connected to the bones by means of tooth sockets.

Osteofibroma of mandible, transformed into malignant tumor, has not yet been reported. This case occured from osteofibroma that had primarily symmetrical foci in the mandible of a 2 years and 3 months old child. The osteofibroma took the secondary transformation into sarcoma in the periosteum, and brought in the diffuse metastasis on salivary. and lymphatic glands and finally on the breast. The patient finally died. This case suggested us that osteofibroma may be considered rather dangerous in the case of in fant. Histologically we observed tumorous transformation of tooth anlage (dental follicule), which made us suppose some histogenic relation to the incidence of the tumor. The present case is the first report of osteofibroma occurring symmetrically in the mandible in the literatures of our country, and the age of the victim may be the youngest described in the foreign reports. Because of the patient's infancy, and the scope of resection being very extensive, the usual splint was inapplicable as the after-treatment. We had, however, a successful result by applying the artificial mandible made of acrylic resin.

1) This is a rare case of atypical odontogenous mixed tumor that occurred in the left maxilla of a man of 27 years of age. 2) The histological structure of the tumor consists of 2 parts of follicular dental cyst and hard odontoma. 3) It is very rare that 2 kinds of odontogenous tumors occured in the form of a perfect cyst. 4) This case suggests us that follicular dental cyst and odontoma may originate simultaneously from a single tooth germ.

Reports on the median cleft of upper lip and the dermoid cyst of Philtrum are extremely rare. The author experimenced a case of incomplete median cleft of upper lip sccompanying with a dermoid cyst of midle finger-head's magnitude on the upper part of philtrum. The patient is a male person aged 21. Hereditary elements were not observed in the patient's lineage. The cleft overreached from the median red lip slightly to adjacent skin. On the upper part of the philtrum there was a welling of midle finger-head's magnitude which was soft and strained on palpation. No pain was felt by pressure. At the median part of maxillar alveolus, there was seen also tracc of notch and frenulum labii superioris shallowly separated in two parts. The cyst was excised by U-form incision on the philtrum. Orthopaedic opera tion was then performed by flap implantation of lower lip mucous menbrane to the cleft part of upper lip. The excised cyst was 1.5cm in diameter and contained within it a yellowish starch-like fluid. The wall of the cyst was frem 0.5mm to 1.0mm in bredth, the inner surfsce of which was covered with squamous cell epithelium. Under the layer of the epitheliumwere found here and there hair follicles and the glands of them. In view of these fimd-ings it was termed as a der moid cyst. On the etiology of this anomaly, the author is of the opinion that the incomplete median cleft of upper lip would have been caused by hypoplastic development of area infranasalis under frontnasal process during the interval between 5th and 7th week of fetal stadium. Misplacement of ectoderm simultaneously occured would have been the origin of the dermoid cyst formation.
