It was found that the cytosol fraction of mammary gland epithelial cell contained 85%-95% of the total activity of the protein kinase (EC 2.7.1.37) which catalyzed the phosphorylation of casein. Both specifid and total activity of the soluble casein kinase increased 2-3 times during pregnancy and lactation compared to those from virgin rats. The cytosol casein kinase was purified more than 100-fold. Effects of various nucleotides and metal ions were investigated on the casein kinase, which phosporylated preferentially native bovine whole casein, α_s-casein, β-casein but did histone to a lesser extent. Discelectrophoreses of native caseins phosphorylated by casein kinase revealed that ^<32>P was incorporated into each protein band. The main amino acid residures of casein which accepted ^<32>P were found to be serine and threonine. Apparent phosphorylation rates of dephosphorylated bovine whole casein, αs-casein, β-casein and rat casein by casein kinase were markedly decrased compared to those of their native casein. Cytosol casein kinase is investigaten in this paper, which is different from the casein kinase from Golgi apparatus (1) in activation effects by metal ions and the affinity for the phosphorylation of dephosphorylated casein. Mammary cytosol casein kinase seems to belong to one of the phosvitin kinase which was reported to occure in yeast (11), calf brain (10).

As plasma substitute, gelatin is used clinicaly. Rabbits and guinea pigs do not produce the antibody after administration of gelatin. But the antibody to gelatin in the rabbit and guinea pig can be produced by repeated intrasubcutaneous injection of gelatin with Freund's complete aduvant. The antibody reacts with native gelatin and plasma substitutes. Clinically, we have proved antigelatin-like factor in 1 out of 6 juvenile rheumatoid arthritis but none of 6 patients with arthrosis deformans.

Rubella HI antibody in 300 women, 16-28 years of age, was detected with microtiter method. The antigen prepared from BHK21 cell culture was kindly provided by Dr. M. Otawara. Serum specimens were treated by adsorption with kaolin and goose red cells. The frequency of rubella HI antibody among these individuals was 68.3%. The result showes that 31.3% of young women are at risk for this disease.

Psychotics have been classified symptomatologicaly, and the meanings of those symptoms have been studied by various kinds of methodology. We know through experiences that patient's symptom havs a certine kind of pattern. Recently, however, we experienced a rare symptom which the patients denied their prignancies, not in initial stage, but in later stage of their pregnances. Denial of the fact is usual defence which so-called psychotic patients have, against their tremendous anxieties. However, the way to use the defences of the patients is rare from out experiences. We tried to discuss why the patients, whom we described in detail in the paper, showed a rare symptom, such as denial of their pregnancy or difficulty of recognition of their fetus which has been understood very much related to the human being and also feminity.

The adequate control of medical drugs has great influence on the level up of clinical medicine and also the good operation of thl hospital. Recent advance of reserch and development of medical drugs has resulted in annual discard of average 10% of all drugs currently used in clinical medicine. Therefore, consumption and Supply of drugs should. be strictly controlled Particularly in a large hospital. In this paper, the control of drugs in our hospital was analyzed using ABC analysis which are widely adapted in the management of enterprise and so on. The resuld of the study Suggested that control of therapeutical drugs should be performed according to the value of each drug. In other words, the control of drugs must be changed according to the merit of the drugs, Also, we could find that the consideration on 1) the cause of loss of drugs, 2) the production of useless drugs, and 3) the degree of drugs to the contribution to the therapy is particularly needed, when we use ABC analysis system is the management of medical drugs.

Uremic lung or uremic pneumopathy is the characteristic radiologic picture of the so-called "batwing" distribution of increased density in the chest film in patients with uremia. It is attibuted to the pulmonary overhydration and/or increased capillary permeability. Although this roentogenological term is known since fairly old time. it is rather rare to see this picture in clinical medicine of renal failure. We experinced two successive occurence of this shadow in one case of chronic renal failure during the conservative treament. These abnormal shadows disappeared completely soon after the treatment with regular hemodialysis. The course and nature of uremic lung of this case was reported precisely in this paper.
