1314TH and 1321TH are both a derviatives of thioseminicotinamide that the former has ethyl group at the position 2 and the other, propyl group at the same position. It has been considered that there are a difference on apperarance of side effects between 1314TH and 1331TH, but recently, it is found the claims that there are not such a difference in those two drugs. As the results of animal experments and clinical investigations, the authors concluded that there are a statistical significant difference between 1314TH and 1321TH on the appearance of nausea and vomiting.

A newly-devised fixation and embedding procedure of the monolayer cultured cells for the electron microscope were discussed. The fibrin plate was first formed over the flask wall. On the surface of the plate the cells were cultured. This resulted not only in a very good growth of the cells, but also in a clear exfoliation of the cultured cells from the TD tube wall without using any drug or causing mechanical damages. This method proved to faciliate fixation and embeddig process saving troublesome procedures, and to make sectioning easier as well.

Red cell Glyoxalase I (E.C. : 4.4.1.5) is known to have a genetic polymorphism (Kompf et al. 1975). These workers reported that three common phenotypes, designated GLO 1, GLO 2-1, GLO 2, are under the genetic control of two allelic genes, GOL^1 and GOL^2, at an autosomal locus. The gene frequencies in a population sample from Southwestern Germany were 0.427 for GOL^1 and 0.573 for GOL^2. In the present study, samples from 572 unrelated Japanese donors in Tokyo were examined for GLO phenotypes using starch gel electrophoresis. Three phenotypes were found : GLO 1 (5 ; 0.87%), GLO 2-1 (91 ; 15.91%) and GLO 2 (476 ; 83.22%). The corresponding gene frequency for GLO^1 was 0.0883 and for GOL^2 was 0.9117. The GOL^1 frequency was lower than the previously reported value for Caucasians in the Southwestern Germany. The value of probability of exclusion of non-fathers was 0.074 for GLO system in the Japanese population. The value indicates that the enzyme system is an useful additional polymorphic trait in cases of disputed paternity in Japan.
