We have just developed an on-line fineness measuring system by using our new air classifier. For cement powder, the Blaine value of the specific surface area (cm
2/g) has been satisfactorily calculated by choosing a cut size
Dp50=8.5μm.
This paper, presents the outline of the measuring systems and one year's operation results in a cement mill. The on-line system shows the same performance as the off-line one. Especially, the linear relationship between the coarse powder yield η(%) and Blame value of the specific surface area
B(cm
2/g) in the line is almost the same equation as the fundamental one. The equation is as follows:
B=-116.8η+12144 The Blame value measuring accuracy from on-line data is 41.2cm
2/g (standard deviation), Furthermore, the correlation coefficient r of the equation is improved from 0.968 to 0.984 compared with the off-line one.
The newly developed on-line fineness measuring apparatus shows good durability in long time operation.
